Abstract: ABSTRACT The Smm1 Egg Tray is an innovative device designed to assess the freshness of eggs using a combination of load cell sensors and gas detection technology. Conventional egg quality assessment methods, such as candling or water tests, are often manual, time-consuming, and prone to error. This project addresses these limitations by integrating sensor-based automation into a single egg tray system. Each egg socket is equipped with a load cell to measure weight variations that occur as eggs age, along with an MQ-135 gas sensor to detect volatile gases (such as ammonia and hydrogen sulphide) released by spoiled eggs. The data from these sensors are processed by a microcontroller, which then displays the freshness status on an OLED display. By combining weight and gas analysis, the Smart Egg Tray provides an accurate, efficient, and user-friendly approach to egg freshness detection. The portable and compact design makes it suitable for households, poultry farms, and commercial food industries, reducing food wastage and ensuring consumer safety.
