Abstract: PsychoGreen refers to a real-time solution that aims at protecting investors by identifying instances where ESG funds use psychological manipulation in marketing their services rather than factual information on sustainable investments. While existing solutions in greenwashing focus largely on detecting misleading, information, PsychoGreen focuses on something deeper - the psychological manipulation of investors. Some examples of tactics used in such scenarios include leveraging emotions of investors, such as fear, guilt, urgent emotions, and hope, among others. Consequently, in most cases, people act out of emotions rather than rationally. This tool works in three phases. Firstly, the Emotional Trigger Scanner looks for patterns of emotional manipulation in the language used in marketing of ESG funds. Secondly, the Psychological Manipulation Scoring Engine compares the amount of emotional content to the factual content and generates the manipulation score in real time. Thirdly, there is the Personalized Investor Alert System that alerts the investors about emotional biases in their decision making. Apart from alerting the investors, this solution also logs every instance of communication that raises red flags. This helps regulators in investigating any patterns of manipulation. PsychoGreen serves as a proactive tool that strengthens investor protection by promoting informed, rational decision-making and discouraging emotionally driven investment choices.
