MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621073281 A) filed by Sage University on June 12, 2026, for Test Strip Assembly For Detection Of Penicillin-Binding Protein-2a In Staphylococcus Aureus.

Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Prachi Srivastava; and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Verma.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a test strip assembly (100) for detection of PbP2a (106) in Staphylococcus aureus. The test strip assembly (100) includes a sample pad (104) configured to receive a bacterial sample extract obtained by suspending intact bacterial colonies (204) from a solid culture medium in the extraction reagent (202). The extraction reagent (202) is an aqueous formulation that releases penicillin-binding protein-2a (106) from Staphylococcus aureus cell walls through passive diffusion at room temperature. The test strip assembly (100) further comprises a conjugate pad (108) comprising gold nanoparticle-labelled monoclonal anti-penicillin-binding protein-2a antibodies (110), and a porous membrane (112) comprising a test line (114) immobilized with capture anti-penicillin-binding protein-2a antibodies and a control line (116) immobilized with anti-immunoglobulin G antibodies. A visible coloured signal on the test line (114), indicating presence of penicillin-binding protein-2a (106) in the bacterial sample extract. FIG. 1
