Abstract: Retinal diseases are one of the major causes of vision impairment and blindness across the world. Diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, and Age-Related Macular Degeneration often develop slowly and may not show noticeable symptoms during the early stages. If these conditions are not detected and treated at the right time, they can lead to permanent vision loss. Therefore, early and accurate detection of retinal diseases is very important for protecting eye health. Traditional methods of retinal disease diagnosis rely on manual examination of fundus images by trained ophthalmologists. Although this approach is effective, it is time-consuming, requires expert knowledge, and is not easily accessible in rural or remote areas. In addition, the quality of retinal images may vary due to poor lighting or low-resolution cameras, which can reduce diagnostic accuracy. These challenges highlight the need for an automated and reliable retinal disease detection system.
