Abstract: A temporary containment barrier for use during construction or renovations of buildings includes a plastic film that is configured to shrink if exposed to heat. The film may have a melting point between 60 and 140 degrees Celsius. The film may be configured to shrink between 20 and 60% in at least one direction if exposed to heat. At least a portion of the film may be monoaxially oriented. At least a portion of the film may be biaxially oriented. The film may have a thickness of between 30 and 300 microns. The film may include at least one fire retardant modifier. In the case of a fire, the film can quickly dissipate and recede before fire suppression sprinklers will activate, and therefore will not impede operation of the sprinklers.
