Abstract: TEMPERING METHOD TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE OF STEEL TUBES IN TEXTILE MANUFACTURING The present invention provides a sequential tempering process for medium carbon steel tubes used in textile bobbin, cops, or pirns applications, which comprises subjecting induction-hardened steel tubes to a controlled reheating phase at a temperature below the austenitic transformation point, in the range of 140°C to 200°C, maintaining the temperature for a predetermined soaking duration, and cooling at a regulated rate, configured to relieve internal stresses induced during induction hardening, transform brittle martensite into tempered martensite with fine carbide precipitation, and optimize mechanical properties including tensile strength, yield strength, hardness, toughness, ductility, and fatigue resistance while ensuring dimensional stability under cyclic loads, crushing loads, and ratcheting loads encountered in high-speed textile manufacturing operations.
