Abstract: ABSTRACT “TECHNIQUES FOR CSI FEEDBACK REDUCTION” The adaptation of spatial elements and/or downlink transmission power is a category of network energy saving techniques that reduces the power consumption of communication system. Further, multiple channel state information (CSI) reports corresponding to the different adaptations with different number of spatial elements and/or transmission power are required to be reported by the UE to enable the optimal adaptation at gNB. However, reporting with large number of CSIs corresponding to different adaptations lead to huge uplink overhead and its implication on the power consumption at the user equipment (UE) is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Further, the CSIs corresponding to different adaptations are correlated with each other which increases redundancy in the CSI reporting. Therefore, reduction in CSI feedback reporting corresponding to multiple spatial and/or power adaptations is of great importance for uplink overhead reduction and UE power saving. The main objective of this invention is to propose techniques to reduce the number of CSI reports, reported for multiple spatial and/or power adaptations, based on various report quantities of the CSI and the correlation between them to reduce the uplink overhead of the UE. Further, the invention contains two step reporting of CSIs for multiple adaptation with partial CSI reporting and propose various methods to report differential values of CSI report quantities such as channel quality indicator.
