The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel targeted drug delivery system for the treatment of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. The system comprises a Co-enzyme Q-based metal ion and Vitamin E complex encapsulated within a Poly-Coordination Network (PCN) and conjugated with a Targeting Protein Moiety (TPM). TPM ensures precise targeting of RGCs by binding to ganglioside receptors, enhancing drug bioavailability while minimizing systemic side effects. The PCN framework facilitates the controlled and sustained release of therapeutic agents, mitigating oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction-key factors in RGC degeneration. This innovative system surpasses conventional treatments by offering enhanced neuroprotection and prolonged therapeutic efficacy, irrespective of intraocular pressure (IOP) control. The invention provides a breakthrough in ophthalmic therapeutics, addressing the urgent need for effective interventions against ocular neuropathies. By preserving retinal integrity and functionality, this drug delivery system holds significant potential for improving visual outcomes and patient quality of life.
