Abstract: A tamper protection system and method (700) for a device deployed under a subscription-based service model, is disclosed. The device comprises Secure SoC (102) configured to: detect presence of first Secure IC and second Secure IC on authenticated communication bus (118); perform cryptographic authentication with each detected Secure IC by transmitting a challenge to detected Secure IC over authenticated communication bus (118) and verify response returned by detected Secure IC; establish session key with second Secure IC; upon successful authentication of each Secure IC detected on authenticated communication bus (118), generate activation command authenticated using the session key; and communicate authenticated activation command to the second Secure IC over the authenticated communication bus (118). The second Secure IC is configured to verify the authenticated activation command and to transition the at least one actuator (106) from default-disabled state to enabled state only upon successful verification of authenticated activation command.
