Abstract: The present invention relates to a tamper-evident nucleic acid storage and authentication assembly for a collectible article and a method thereof. The assembly comprises a medallion 101 fixed to a collectible article, wherein the medallion 101 includes a sealed capsule 103 positioned within an internal cavity thereof. The sealed capsule 103 contains a substrate 203 carrying a dried nucleic acid composition derived from an origin person, wherein purified nucleic acid is combined with a nucleic acid stabilizing composition and dried for long-term preservation. The medallion 101 further comprises a cover plate 104 configured to permanently seal capsule 103 such that access requires destructive alteration. A visible identifier provided on the medallion 101 is associated with a registry storing provenance and reference nucleic acid information. The authenticity of collectible article is verified by recovering preserved nucleic acid and comparing recovered nucleic acid profile with stored reference information corresponding to origin person.
