The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A method for producing a tailor rolled blank with strain hardening for variable thickness sheet metal production includes feeding a metal sheet (110) into a rolling mill (100) having work rollers (102, 104) defining a roll gap (116), measuring sheet thickness and position of the metal sheet (110) using a thickness sensor (406), dynamically adjusting the roll gap (116) and rolling pressure based on the position of the metal sheet (110) and a target thickness profile, rolling the metal sheet (110) to produce differential thickness reduction wherein regions of the metal sheet (110) undergo different degrees of thickness reduction, and inducing strain hardening in thinner regions (204) of the metal sheet (110) through plastic deformation during the rolling, wherein the strain hardening increases strength and hardness in the thinner regions (204) without heat treatment, thereby outputting a variable thickness blank (200) having tailored mechanical properties along a length thereof.
