Abstract: Provided are embodiments of an optical fiber ribbon. The optical fiber ribbon includes at least one rotationally oriented optical fiber aligned along a length of the optical fiber ribbon. The optical fiber includes a cladding region having a first shear modulus and a first radius and a core and at least one stress member disposed within the cladding region, or two or more cores disposed within the cladding region. The optical fiber ribbon further includes a coating layer surrounding the cladding region and having a second shear modulus and a second radius. The at least one rotationally oriented optical fiber has a characteristic length. Embodiments of methods for preparing such an optical fiber ribbon are also provided.
