Abstract: SYSTEM FOR SELECTING AN OPTIMAL SLITTING PATTERN FOR COIL AND METHOD THEREOF Disclosed herein is system and method for selecting an optimal slitting pattern for a coil. The system receives plurality of input parameters that correspond to a slitting operation of the coil. The plurality of input parameters comprises order information with respect to a plurality of coil orders, priority information for each coil order, surface finish characteristics of each coil order, width information for each coil order, coil thickness information for each coil order, coil grade information for each coil order, coil weight information for each coil order, a processing flow path of each coil order. The system creates one or more groups of coil order based on the surface finish characteristics and the processing flow path of each coil order and determines set of slitting patterns to perform slitting operation on coils based on the one or more groups and the plurality of input parameters. Further, the system determines optimal slitting pattern from the set of slitting patterns based on correlation of each parameter of input parameters of each order with coil inventory information. The coil inventory information comprises coil surface finish characteristics, coil grade availability, coil thickness availability, coil width availability, coil quantity availability, slitting capability, and a surface finish characteristic handling capability in coil slitting facility.
