The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A system (400) for sensing positioning of a potentiometer (414) in a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and automation devices or systems is disclosed. The system (400) includes a DC power supply (404) configured to provide a variable Direct Current (DC) supply voltage in a predefined range. The system includes the potentiometer comprising a first terminal configured to the DC power supply (404), a second terminal connected to ground, and a wiper terminal providing a wiper voltage corresponding to a positioning of the potentiometer (414). The system includes a voltage scaling and protection circuitry (406) configured to scale a PLC power supply voltage and the wiper voltage to a predefined level suitable for measurement. The system includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) configured to receive the scaled PLC power supply voltage and the scaled wiper voltage from the voltage scaling and protection circuitry, to generate a representation of the PLC power supply voltage and the wiper voltage.
