Abstract: The present disclosure elaborates upon a system (100) for detecting tampering or damage to siren (102) of a vehicle. The system (100) comprises a microphone (108) positioned in and/or on the vehicle, and a controller (110) in communication with the microphone (108) and a theft-detection unit (104) associated with the vehicle. The controller (110) is configured to activate the microphone (108) upon triggering of the theft-detection unit (104), where the triggering causes the theft-detection unit (104) to activate a siren (102) associated with the theft-detection unit (104). The controller (110) further generates an alert signal upon non-detection of the acoustic signals from the siren (102) or upon detecting acoustic attributes of the acoustic signals to be below a predefined range, wherein the alert signal is indicative of tampering or damage to the siren (102).
