Abstract: ABSTRACT REAR WHEEL LOCKING PREVENTION IN TWO-WHEELED VEHICLES Example approaches for preventing rear wheel locking in twowheeled vehicles without anti-lock braking systems 5 (ABS) or with only frontwheel ABS are described. A control unit (104, 200, 310) that receives sensor signals from a plurality of sensors (208). The control unit (104, 200, 310) determines whether a rear wheel locking condition is detected by comparing a vehicle linear speed with a rotational speed of a rear wheel. 10 Upon detecting the rear wheel locking condition, the control unit (104, 200, 310) transmits a control signal to a motor and gearbox assembly (312) to command the motor (212) to move backwards such that a piston assembly (314) moves back to reduce the braking pressure on the rear wheel. The vehicle (102, 300) includes a fail-safe mechanism wherein upon detecting a 15 failure, the control unit (104, 200, 310) stays idle such that hydraulic fluid flows directly from a master cylinder (304) through a normally open valve to a rear wheel caliper (316), thereby maintaining braking functionality.
