MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611103475 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on August 27, 2026, for System For In-Cabin Driver Fatigue Estimation.
Inventors include Dr. R. Sanjeevi; Dr. J. Anuradha; B Gyani Priyanka Patnaik; Harshit Sharma; Deepanshu Gupta; and Chhavi Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to a system (100) and method (200) for in-cabin driver fatigue estimation and real-time danger mitigation. The system (100) comprises a camera module (102) configured to continuously acquire video frames of a driver's face, a control unit (104) communicatively coupled to the camera module (102), and an actuator (106) configured to execute graduated danger mitigation actions. The control unit (104) comprises a processing unit (104a) configured to pre-process the acquired video frames, extract instantaneous spatial features and temporal behavioural features, generate a unified input tensor, and analyse the unified input tensor using a Spatio-Temporal Fatigue Cue Transformer (STFCT) model to generate a continuous Driver Fatigue Index (DFI). The control unit (104) compares the Driver Fatigue Index with predefined fatigue thresholds to determine a fatigue level and generates a corresponding control signal for actuating one or more danger mitigation actions.
