MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641093963 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 03, 2026, for System For Generating Rainwater Harvesting Plan, And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Lighittha P R; Prithivraj S; Sundara Srivathsan M; Elavenil S; and G. Raja Rajeswari.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a system (100) and a method (200) for generating a rainwater harvesting plan. An input acquisition unit (102) with a location sensing unit (102-1) acquires input data including an address, geographic coordinates, or a rooftop image. A processor (104) executes instructions to retrieve and preprocess the input data using image enhancement techniques. A segmentation engine (110) generates a geometric representation of a usable catchment area. A climatological data acquisition unit (112) retrieves rainfall data from meteorological sources. A harvestable volume estimation unit (114) determines water harvesting potential. An engineering design unit (116) derives structural parameters. A material specification generation unit (118) generates a bill of materials. A report generation unit (120) produces an output document representing the rainwater harvesting plan.
