MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611092902 A) filed by Chandigarh University on July 31, 2026, for System For Dynamic Iot Vulnerability Mapping And Adaptive Cyber Range Generation.
Inventors include Vikash Upadhyay; and Priyanka Devi.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for real-time IoT vulnerability mapping and adaptive cyber range generation. The system acquires live telemetry data, 5 firmware metadata, and communication protocol behaviour from deployed Internet of Things (IoT) devices through a secure gateway or edge interface. A telemetry acquisition module continuously monitors device states, while a protocol behaviour analyser identifies active services, runtime characteristics, and potential exposure points. A vulnerability mapping engine dynamically correlates the collected information with known Common 10 Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) to identify applicable security weaknesses. Based on the identified vulnerabilities, an automated scenario generation engine creates and injects corresponding attack and defense scenarios into a modular cyber range without manual intervention. The invention enables continuous, context-aware cybersecurity training, security validation, and defensive readiness by maintaining adaptive simulation 15 environments aligned with evolving IoT device conditions, thereby overcoming limitations of static and manually configured cyber range systems
