A signal transduction interface (103) converts bioelectric variations into digital signals, while a recharge-activated module (104) with an environmental energy harvester delivers electrochemical refresh pulses to restore sensing functionality. A wireless communication interface (105) enables remote data transmission. The system operates through cyclic sensing and regeneration phases for long-term autonomous monitoring. A corresponding method enables continuous contaminant detection with cyclic sensor regeneration in subsurface environments.
