MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641096855 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 11, 2026, for System For Automatic Building Extraction From Drone Orthophotos.
Inventor includes Prabhu R.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC BUILDING EXTRACTION FROM DRONE ORTHOPHOTOS A system (100) for automatic building extraction from drone orthophotos comprises an encoder (110) configured to receive RGB drone orthophotos and extract hierarchical feature maps comprising information relating to building roofs, edges, textures, and structural characteristics. An attention module (120) receives the hierarchical feature maps and generates attention-refined feature maps using a channel attention mechanism configured to identify informative feature channels and a spatial attention mechanism configured to identify spatial locations containing building structures. A decoder (130) receives the attention-refined feature maps and performs multi-scale feature fusion using nested dense skip connections, combining low-level spatial details with high-level semantic information at different resolutions. A classifier (140) receives output from the decoder (130) and generates a pixel-wise building segmentation mask classifying each pixel as building or background. (FIG. 1)
