Abstract: ABSTRACT A system (100) to optimize power output of photovoltaic panels is disclosed. The system (100) includes an input module (110) configured to obtain solar radiant incident data from an illumination sensor (120) of the electric vehicle (130). The system (100) also includes a processing module (140) to calculate illumination and radiation statistics based on the solar radiant incident data from the input module. The processing module (140) also approximates a radiation factor (150) as a function of illumination based on calculated statistics. The processing module (140) determines further a reference voltage (160) for maximum power point tracking using the radiation factor. The processing module (140) adjusts an operating voltage (170) of the photovoltaic panels based on the reference voltage determined, thereby optimizing power output in the electric vehicle.
