MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411104051 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 28, 2024, for System And Method To Enable Maneuvering Of Vehicles Based On User-Defined Navigational Routes.

Inventor includes Chetan Chaudhari.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: Described herein is a system (100) to enable the maneuvering of an ego vehicle (100A) based on a user-defined navigational route. The system (100) comprises a computing device (102) that is configured to enable a user to draw a trajectory of a navigational route for the ego vehicle (100A) from an origin point up to a destination point on one or more images associated with a view of a predefined area around the ego vehicle (100A), scale the drawn trajectory to dimensions of the predefined area around the vehicle, and flatten the scaled trajectory to a road surface in the predefined area around the ego vehicle (100A), and correspondingly smoothen the flattened trajectory. Further, the computing device (102) applies one or more deviations up to a predefined distance on the lateral sides of the smoothened trajectory to generate a collision-free trajectory for the ego vehicle (100A).
