Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Waste-Heat Recovery and Demand-Based Thermal-Energy Distribution The present invention relates to a system and a method for waste-heat recovery and demand-based thermal-energy distribution. The system is fed in real-time with thermal parameters from multiple waste-heat sources and thermal consumers, and generates source-specific thermal fingerprints, characterising temperature, flow characteristics, recoverable thermal energy, intermittency, and temporal availability. A thermal-quality mapping module determines a thermal-quality parameter for each recovered heat stream and a predictive module determines future thermal-energy availability and thermal demand. A compatibility matching module matches recovered heat with consumer-specific thermal requirements and selectively directs the heat into thermally differentiated storage zones or compatible thermal consumers. The adaptive routing module controls valves, pumps, heat exchangers, bypass lines and mixing arrangements to distribute thermal energy as conditions change. Heat from higher temperature utilisation is cascaded to lower temperature utilisation. Auxiliary heating is selectively actuated in case of thermal deficit. Thus, the system improves the utilisation of thermal energy, keeps the thermal quality, reduces heat rejection and unnecessary consumption of auxiliary energy.
