MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511020202 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organisation Drdo on March 06, 2025, for System And Method For Validation Of Operating System Hardening.

Inventors include Walia, Gurjit Singh; Sagar, Sunil; Dube, Abhinav; Patil, Mahesh Uttam; Chaithanya, M K; Vamsi, D Mohana; Abhishek; and Ranjith, Ilaveni.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A method 600 for validating operating system (OS) hardening is disclosed. A source code of a hardened OS is received along with claimed hardened OS artefacts. One or more configuration files corresponding to different OS layers are identified and segregated. The configuration files are parsed via a plurality of parsers to extract syntactic components, and parsed data is transformed into intermediate representations for structured querying. The intermediate representations are analyzed to validate hardening measures across the different OS layers, including application, runtime, hardware abstraction, and kernel layers. Further, an inference model assigns weighted values to evaluation results and aggregates them to determine a hardening confidence level. A validation report is generated, comprising hardening confidence levels, layer-wise validation insights, and security recommendations. [
