MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431093812 A) filed by Dibyajyoti Saikia; and Indrani Devi Sarma on April 28, 2025, for System And Method For Translating Finger Movements Into Spoken Language Using Real-Time Sign Language Processing.

Inventors include Dibyajyoti Saikia; and Indrani Devi Sarma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A system and method for translating finger movements into spoken language using real-time sign language processing is disclosed. The system includes a wearable signal-generation device having a pair of hand-mounted units worn on respective hands of a user. The wearable signal-generation device includes conducting plates positioned on fingers and conducting strips positioned on the palm, interconnected through first and second electrical circuit to generate nine unique signals per hand based on predefined finger interactions. A microcontroller unit detects and transmit corresponding digital output data to an external processing unit. The external processing unit converts the received data into machine-readable codes using signal-processing unit, processes codes using natural language processing to form grammatically structured sentences and generates audible speech using a speech synthesis module. A user-identifiable synthetic voice is produced using an acoustic output module, with tonal modulation applied by an artificial-intelligence-based prosody controller to generate natural and expressive speech output.
