MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009893 A) filed by Smart Grid Analytics Pvt. Ltd on January 30, 2026, for System And Method For Transformer Failure Prediction Using Integrated Grid, Smart Meter And Ai Analytics.
Inventor includes Kumaraswamy M.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method for predicting failure of distribution transformers using integrated electrical operating data and contextual grid information. Electrical parameters including voltage, current, power, power factor, frequency, harmonic distortion, and event data are acquired from a transformer through a multi-function meter at near real-time intervals and pre-processed at an edge device with local buffering to maintain data continuity. The processed data is combined with transformer asset information, outage records, feeder topology, and contextual data to generate a unified analytical dataset. Hybrid analysis combining physics-based thermal aging computation and machine-learning-based prediction is applied to determine transformer health scores and failure probability. Feeder-level correlation identifies the origin of stress conditions, and maintenance actions are automatically initiated when predefined risk thresholds are exceeded.
