MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621085287 A) filed by Symbiosis Skills And Professional University on July 12, 2026, for System And Method For Smart Electrochemical Corrosion Chamber With Integrated Monitoring And Life Prediction.
Inventors include Nitesh Hirulkar; Sagar V Wankhede; Sanjeev Sharma; and Vijaykumar S Jatti.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The invention discloses a smart electrochemical corrosion chamber (1) with integrated monitoring and life prediction for adhesively bonded joints (3). The chamber comprises an electrolyte solution tank (2) with anode (4) and cathode (5) electrodes powered by a DC supply (6) to accelerate corrosion under controlled current density. A temperature regulation mechanism including heating coil (7), sensor (8), and PID controller (9) maintains electrolyte conditions replicating marine exposure. Structural health monitoring is achieved through piezoelectric actuator (10) and sensor (11), excited by signal generator (12) and recorded via oscilloscope (13), enabling continuous Lamb wave analysis. A data acquisition unit (14) and microcontroller (15) automate parameter collection, while a machine learning unit (16) processes data to predict degradation, residual strength, and remaining service life. Results are displayed through user interface (17). The integrated system reduces testing duration, ensures reproducibility, and enables real-time durability forecasting.
