MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531030980 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 29, 2025, for System And Method For Simulated Environment-Based Corrosion Testing Of Materials.
Inventors include Dhirendra Kumar; Amit Kumar; Antony Harison Manjali Cyril; and Vivek Arya.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present subject matter discloses system and method for simulated environment-based corrosion testing materials. The system (100) includes a fume hood (302) accommodating at least two tubular furnace tubes (202, 203) to hold plurality of samples (502, 504), wherein the said samples (502, 504) are precoated with simulated coal ash and salt mixture. Post evacuating the pre-existing atmospheric gases from each furnace, a simulated flue gas mixture is supplied through a control panel (409). Further the control panel (409) varies the temperature of each furnace (202, 203) for exposing the samples (502, 504) to high temperature range, for required hours of hot corrosion cycle. Post exposure, samples are cooled, and collected and their corrosion attack properties are evaluated for selecting materials for boiler application. (FIG. 4a)
