The system (102) splits message associated with each user device into a common part and a private part. The system (102) generates a common stream (124) from the common parts and a plurality of private streams (126, 128) from the private parts. The system (102) maps the common stream (124) onto an in-phase component of a transmitted signal and maps the plurality of private streams (126, 128) onto a quadrature-phase component of the transmitted signal. The system (102) applies one or more beamforming vectors to enable channel gains corresponding to the common stream (124) and the plurality of private streams (126, 128) to be real-valued at the user device and allow parallel decoding of the common part and the private part.
