MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617064464 A) filed by The University Of Newcastle on May 21, 2026, for System And Method For Separating Fine Particles From A Slurry.

Inventor includes Galvin, Kevin.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: A system (10) has first and second particle separators (100, 200) comprising first and second vessels (110, 210). A first inlet (115) receives a slurry and carrier particles in the first vessel (110). A first fluidisation device (120) creates a fluidised bed (140) in the first vessel (110) and an aggregation zone (150) forms therein such that fine particles attach to the carrier particles, forming aggregates and separating from gangue particles. A first outlet (160) removes a first underflow comprising the aggregates from the first vessel (110). The second particle separator (200) has a second inlet (215) for receiving the first underflow. A second fluidisation device (220) creates a second fluidised bed (240), separating the first underflow into a second underflow comprising the carrier particles and an overflow comprising the fine particles. A second outlet (260) removes the second underflow and a launder (285) receives the overflow.
