MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110293 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 14, 2026, for System And Method For Self-Deploying Deformation-Sensing Textile Strip-Based Adaptive Digital Twin For Intelligent Disaster Response.

Inventors include Jeevitha P; Sanjay S; and Pradhibha K.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an adaptive disaster-response system for continuous assessment of rescue-path stability in disaster-affected environments. The system comprises an autonomous drone (2) configured to identify high-risk rescue locations and selectively deploy a lightweight, flexible, deformation-sensing textile strip (3) across selected rescue paths. The textile strip (3) comprises a distributed conductive sensing network and environmental sensing elements configured to monitor deformation, structural movement, vibration, temperature, gas concentration, humidity, and orientation. A communication module (4) transmits the sensing data to an Adaptive Digital Twin module (5), which continuously updates a virtual representation of the monitored environment. An Artificial Intelligence module (6) analyses temporal and spatial sensing data to assess rescue-path stability, predict potential hazards, and recommend safer routes. An Alerts and Decision Support module (7) communicates dynamic route conditions and recommendations to rescue personnel, thereby enabling informed Rescue Team Action (8) and improving safety and efficiency during ongoing disaster-response operations.
