Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURE DISK SANITIZATION USING MULTI-PASS DATA OVERWRITING AND VERIFICATION 5 The present invention discloses a disk sanitization system (100) and method for securely and irreversibly erasing data from storage devices. The system comprises a user interface module (110) for receiving device selection and sanitization parameters, a device interface module (150) for detecting and accessing storage devices, a sanitization engine (120) for performing configurable multi-pass 10 overwrite operations using predefined and random patterns, a verification module (130) for validating data erasure, and a report generation module (140) for generating audit-compliant sanitization reports. The system supports multiple storage media including HDDs, SSDs, USB drives, and memory cards. The verification module ensures that no residual data remains recoverable, and 15 additional overwrite cycles are performed if required. The invention provides a reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly alternative to physical destruction while ensuring compliance with data security standards and regulatory requirements.
