MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126952 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 24, 2026, for System And Method For Root-Confined Process Recovery Using Supervisor-Retained Communication Endpoints.

Inventors include Konguvel Elango; Vidhya S.; and Shashwat Kansal.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ROOT-CONFINED PROCESS RECOVERY USING SUPERVISOR-RETAINED COMMUNICATION ENDPOINTS A fault-recovery system (100) for a processing pipeline (122) includes a host computing device (102) with a processor (104) and memory (106) executing an operating system (108), a sensor node (110) coupled through an external hardware interface (120), and an upstream stage process (124) and downstream stage process (126) joined by an inter-process communication channel (130). A supervisor process (134) detects a failure of the upstream stage process (124), identifies the failed process as a recovery root using a declared directed dependency relationship (142), and creates a replacement process. The supervisor process (134) retains a channel endpoint descriptor (136) independently of the upstream lifecycle, keeping the channel open. The replacement process inherits the descriptor (136) and reuses the channel (130). The downstream stage process (126) is classified as a dependent failure and keeps executing. Recovery succeeds upon liveness evidence after reacquisition of the external hardware interface (120). (Fig. 1)
