Abstract: ABSTRACT System and Method for Remote Rehabilitation Progress Assessment Using Motion Sensors The system and method of the present disclosure provides for remote rehabilitation progress assessment using motion sensors. The system collects multisensor motion data from anatomical segments, synchronises the data, compensates for the variations in sensor placements and orientations, and reconstructs the biomechanical movement characteristics in an anatomical reference frame . A patient-specific motion envelope is generated to characterise range of motion, velocity, smoothness, coordination and movement trajectory. Moreover, the system compares affected and unaffected parts of the body, identifies compensatory movements, tracks the evolution of the rehabilitation across multiple sessions and estimates the confidence of the measurement based on sensor and data quality. An adaptive assessment protocol changes the subsequent assessment parameters according to the recovery state, detected movement deviations and measurement confidence, providing objective, reliable and personalised remote rehabilitation progress assessment.
