MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202141013994 A) filed by Bharat Electronics Limited on March 29, 2021, for System And Method For Reducing Flicker In Image Sequences.

Inventors include Neelabh Keshav; and Mastan Rao Kongara.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to the field of signal and image processing of signals acquired from sensors. More specifically, it relates to processing of signals from imaging sensors sensitive though not limited to infrared range of electromagnetic radiation for enhancement wherein the imaging sensor is an array of elements called pixels each of which gives an intensity level output based on their response to incident electromagnetic radiation. The method relates to a technique for reducing the flicker noise in the digital image sequences to give an improved quality image sequence and enhances viewing experience. Flicker Noise during dynamic range compression is eliminated by identifying the rapid gain fluctuation in the image sequences and processing the gain to generate an enhanced image with reduced flicker. The method reduces flicker noise while enhancing the contrast.
