MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112787 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 21, 2026, for System And Method For Reconfigurable Intelligent User Clustering And Coordinated Resource Optimization In Wireless Networks.

Inventors include Dr. Budhaditya Bhattacharyya; and J Gurunadhan.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: [0044] An Adaptive Multi-STAR-RIS Control System for 6G wireless networks is presented, unifying mobility prediction, lightweight reinforcement learning, adaptive Multi-STAR-RIS scheduling, finite-resolution ON–OFF beamforming, and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) compensation. A Base Station collects network data, which a Mobility Prediction Module uses to estimate user movement. A Lightweight Reinforcement Learning Controller dynamically selects optimal STAR-RIS panels and configures transmission/reflection operations with ON–OFF beamforming. An Imperfect SIC Compensation Module minimizes residual interference. The system continuously refines decisions based on real-time feedback, jointly optimizing resource management to enhance spectral efficiency, energy efficiency, communication reliability, scalability, and user fairness.
