MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621095185 A) filed by Dr. Nishant Shyam Chavan; and Dr. Supriya Ravindra Sirsat on August 06, 2026, for System And Method For Real-Time Inflation Forecasting Using Fusion Of Commodity Price, Mobility, And Consumption Data.

Inventors include Dr. Nishant Shyam Chavan; and Dr. Supriya Ravindra Sirsat.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system and method for real-time inflation forecasting using fusion of commodity price, mobility, and consumption data. The system receives heterogeneous commodity price, mobility, and consumption data from a plurality of data sources and performs data validation, normalization, temporal synchronization, geographic mapping, and feature generation. An adaptive data-fusion engine dynamically determines contribution weights for respective data modalities based on data freshness, quality, reliability, geographic relevance, temporal relevance, and historical predictive performance. A forecasting engine processes the resulting fused representation to generate category-specific, geographic, and aggregate inflation forecasts over one or more future time horizons. A confidence module may further determine uncertainty values, prediction intervals, and inflationary pressure scores. The system can continuously update source weights and forecasting parameters based on subsequent observations and forecasting errors, thereby providing a real-time and adaptive inflation early-warning mechanism. The system is applicable to diverse economic environments, including geographically heterogeneous markets such as India, and can provide timely inflation estimates without requiring personally identifiable consumer information.
