MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621054389 A) filed by Sage University on April 29, 2026, for System And Method For Real-Time Detection Of Sepsis In Patient.
Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Dr. Ati Jain; Ajeet Pal; Deepesh Pal; and Pooja Dawar.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to real-time detection of sepsis in a patient. The system (100) includes a sensor array (102) with medical-grade physiological sensors (108) that acquire continuous physiological signal streams (204) corresponding to multiple physiological parameters. An adaptive fusion circuit (106) computes a signal quality index for each signal stream based on noise and motion artifact levels, then generates a fused physiological signal (206) by applying dynamic weights inversely proportional to each signal quality index. A signal preprocessing circuit (104) computes a sepsis risk score (208) by measuring deviation of the fused physiological signal (206) from a patient-specific baseline profile, which is periodically updated during active monitoring. Upon the sepsis risk score (208) meeting or exceeding a confidence threshold derived from the dynamic weights, the signal preprocessing circuit (104) generates a tiered alert output (116) at one of multiple risk levels, enabling timely clinical intervention.
