Abstract: A system and method for query-driven extraction and generation of information from heterogeneous electronic documents are disclosed. The system comprises a document input unit configured to receive an electronic document and a natural language query, a memory configured to store document information, a control unit configured to identify a document category and coordinate successive document extraction operations, an extraction unit configured to extract document field values from tabular information, textual patterns, and unresolved document content to reconstruct document information, a query processing unit configured to determine a document-specific analytical operation by correlating the reconstructed document information with the natural language query and generate query-specific output information, and a display unit configured to present the generated output. The system performs successive extraction operations until document information corresponding to the electronic document is reconstructed and selectively generates output corresponding to the received query, enabling processing of heterogeneous electronic documents through a unified query-driven document processing workflow.
