MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105306 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on September 01, 2026, for System And Method For Providing Safety Monitoring And Guidance During Laparoscopic Uterine Surgical Procedures.

Inventors include Vishal. G; Maram Pavani; Nisha V M; Viswanathan V; and Amutha S.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a real-time video-based support system (100) that includes a video input unit (102) configured to receive a laparoscopic video feed and process the video into sequential frames. An anatomical identification unit (104) detects and segments uterine anatomical structures, while an instrument detection and tracking unit (106) identifies and tracks surgical instruments. An interaction and proximity analysis unit (108) evaluates spatial relationships between instruments and anatomical structures. A pressure and motion assessment unit (110) estimates tissue interaction parameters, and a bleeding detection unit (112) identifies bleeding events based on temporal visual changes. A tissue stress evaluation unit (114) determines localized stress. A risk analysis and safety logic unit (116) integrates outputs to compute a composite risk metric using temporal persistence logic. A feedback and alert unit (118) generates real-time alerts without additional sensors.
