MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411096727 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 06, 2024, for System And Method For Protecting High-Pressure Fuel Lines Of An Engine Block Of A Vehicle.
Inventors include Harsha Kamatagi; and Srikanth Shivalingaiah.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A system 100 for protecting high-pressure fuel lines 270a of an engine block 270 is provided. The system 100 comprises a stopper assembly 200 positioned on a front side of the engine block 270. The stopper assembly 200 includes one or more pillars 210 configured to block an impacting object 280 and an actuator assembly 220 to lift the one or more pillars 210 to an actuated position to block the impacting object 280. The system 100 further comprises a crash sensor 10 to detect an impact and activate the actuator assembly 220. One or more pillars 210 have inclined surfaces 215 to deflect and reduce velocity of the impacting object 280. The stopper assembly 200 can be integrated or attached to the engine block 270. The system 100 effectively protects high-pressure fuel lines 270a from the impacting object 280. [FIG. 2]
