MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541030514 A) filed by Ather Energy Limited on March 28, 2025, for System And Method For Protecting An Electric Vehicle From An Unauthorized Power Transfer Event.
Inventors include Kamil, Farhan Ahmad; Madhukar, Varsha; Balasubramanya, Koushik; Tawargeri, Shrushti P; Pawar, Suraj Rajendra; and Raj, Swarnim.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A system (122) for protecting an electric vehicle (EV) (102) from an unauthorized power transfer event is disclosed. The system (122) includes at least one sensor (302) configured to monitor parameters associated with operational modes of the EV and obtain parameters associated with a battery management system (BMS). The system (122) includes at least one controller (304) configured to identify a current operational mode based on the monitored parameters, obtain BMS parameters, correlate each BMS parameter with a pre-determined value based on the identified operational mode, detect the unauthorized power transfer event as an unauthorized charging event, unauthorized discharging event, or limp mode, and control switches associated with charging or discharging paths to protect the EV (102). The system optimizes vehicle security by monitoring operational parameters and implementing protective measures, thereby preventing unauthorized power transfers and potential damage to the EV (102).
