Abstract: ABSTRACT Embodiments disclosed herein provide a system and method for securing swappable lithium-ion battery packs in electric vehicles. A Battery Management System (BMS) integrated with the battery pack includes a microcontroller, non-volatile memory, and at least one high-current switch in the main power path. Upon receiving an authenticated lock command from a cloud platform via an IoT device (108), or upon autonomous detection of theft/non-payment, the BMS opens the switch, stores a persistent lock flag, and maintains the open state through hardware circuitry independent of the IoT device (108). The battery is thereby rendered incapable of charging or discharging even if the IoT device (108) is removed or destroyed, and is restored only by a subsequent authenticated unlock command. FIG. 2
