Abstract: ABSTRACT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRETREATMENT AND UTILIZATION OF HIGH-SALINITY BRINE THROUGH CARBONATION, ALKALINE PRECIPITATION, AND ELECTROLYSIS The present invention relates to a system and method for pretreatment and utilization of high-salinity brine. The system comprises a pretreatment unit configured to remove scaling ions through carbonation and alkaline precipitation, a solid-liquid separation unit configured to produce a purified brine stream, and an electrolysis unit configured to generate sodium hydroxide and hydrogen from the purified brine. The system further facilitates carbon dioxide mineralization by reacting carbon dioxide with alkaline constituents to form carbonate and hydroxide products. An Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled monitoring and control system monitors and regulates process parameters including pH, total dissolved solids, carbon dioxide flow rate, conductivity, temperature, and flow conditions to optimize process efficiency. The recovered carbonate and hydroxide products are suitable for industrial and environmental applications. The invention provides an integrated, scalable platform for reducing electrolysis fouling while enabling resource recovery and carbon utilization.
