MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100985 A) filed by Poornima University; and Garima Jain on August 20, 2026, for System And Method For Predicting Biological Brain Age From Volumetric Magnetic Resonance Imaging Data.

Inventor includes Garima Jain.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method for predicting biological brain age from volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. The system comprises a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data acquisition unit, an image processing unit, a brain age prediction unit, a brain age difference determination unit, and a control unit. The image processing unit preprocesses received volumetric MRI data by filtering, normalization, augmentation, and generation of three-dimensional (3D) feature tensors. The brain age prediction unit generates volumetric feature representations from the feature tensors through successive residual feature extraction operations with skip connections and attention-guided refinement to selectively retain neuroanatomical feature representations and generate a unified volumetric feature representation for determination of biological brain age. The brain age difference determination unit compares the predicted biological brain age with chronological age information to generate a brain age difference. The control unit coordinates data transfer among the units and generates an output comprising the predicted biological brain age and the corresponding brain age difference.
