MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611087471 A) filed by Central University Of Jammu on July 17, 2026, for System And Method For Portable Digital Contact Profilometry With Gravity Compensation.

Inventors include Dr Amita Gupta; Tiwari, Arpit; and Trivedi, Ishan.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: A system for portable digital contact profilometry with gravity compensation includes a housing (100) defining a reference plane with an ergonomic handle, a slidable pin array (102) with each pin moving independently to conform to a surface geometry, a guide rail (104) maintaining each pin in a displaced position with controlled friction, an optical encoder strip (106) detecting each pin position relative to the reference plane, an inertial measurement unit (108) detecting housing orientation relative to a gravitational vector, a multiplexer arrangement (110), a microcontroller unit (112), a wireless communication module (114), a power management module (116), and a local storage module (118). The microcontroller unit (112) applies a rotation matrix transformation to generate a gravity-corrected coordinate profile and vector coordinate data in DXF or SVG file format, which the wireless communication module (114) transmits to an external computing device without manual digitization.
