MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641058597 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research Education on May 08, 2026, for System And Method For Pneumonia Detection Using Deep Learning Based Medical Image Analysis.

Inventors include Dr. Chinnasamy P; Aduru Venkata Lakshmi Harshini; Daram Thanu Sri; Yarlagadda Meenakshi; and Peddiboyina Nitish Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PNEUMONIA DETECTION USING DEEP LEARNING-BASED MEDICAL IMAGE ANALYSIS The titled invention discloses a system and method for pneumonia detection using 5 deep-learning-based medical image analysis through a web-enabled framework. The system comprises a user interface module (1}, an image upload module (2), an input verification module (3}, an image preprocessing module (4}, an image resizing unit (5), an image normalization unit (6), a contrast enhancement unit (7), a noise removal unit (8}, a convolutional neural network analysis module (9}, a symptom assessment 10 module (10), a decision fusion module (11), and a diagnostic result display module (12). The uploaded chest X-ray images are validated and processed through preprocessing operations for improvi"ng image quality. The convolutional neural network analysis module (9) extracts pneumonia-related image features and generates prediction probabilities with confidence scores. The symptom assessment 15 module (10) evaluates clinical symptoms and generates a symptom-based risk score. 20 The decision fusion module (11) combines image-based prediction outputs and symptom-based assessment results for generating an integrated diagnostic outcome. The diagnostic result display module (12) presents prediction results and highlighted chest X-ray regions for explainable pneumonia detection and diagnostic assistance.
