MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072074 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 10, 2026, for System And Method For Plant Stress Detection And Autonomous Agricultural Control.
Inventors include Konguvel Elango; and Abisek S.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: A plant stress detection and autonomous agricultural control system (100) is disclosed. The system comprises an image acquisition unit (102) configured to capture plant imagery, a plurality of sensors (104) configured to acquire environmental and crop-condition parameters including temperature, humidity, soil moisture, rainfall status, light intensity, atmospheric condition, and air quality, a processor (106), a memory (108), a communication unit (112), and an actuation unit (110) configured to control at least one agricultural remediation device (114). The processor (106) performs image-based inference to generate a plant-condition classification and an associated confidence score, compares the confidence score with a predefined threshold, and initiates direct actuation for high-confidence classifications. For uncertain classifications, plant imagery is transmitted for remote verification when communication is available, while a fallback decision process is executed during communication unavailability. The system validates classifications using environmental parameters and performs closed-loop agricultural remediation based on validated plant-condition assessment for autonomous crop monitoring and intervention.
