MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110297 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on September 14, 2026, for System And Method For Physically Depleting Chemiluminescent Credential Cartridges Enforcing Rollback-Resistant, Query-Bound Access Quotas On Retrieval-Augmented Generation Corpora.

Inventors include Subramaniyaswamy V; and Abhijai S.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for enforcing a non-resettable retrieval quota for a protected information corpus using a physically depleting credential cartridge (101) operated by a QuotaCell Reader (100). The cartridge (101) comprises a plurality of sealed cells, each having an emissive charge separated by a frangible barrier and being irreversibly activatable at a rupture station (102). Upon a retrieval request (109), one cell is mechanically advanced and ruptured, and an emission transient is detected through optical stations (103) and a SiPM front end (104). An STM32U585 controller (105) and ATECC608B secure element (106) generate and sign an Emission Proof Object binding the physical consumption to a query and server-issued nonce. A Quota-Gated RAG Back-End (108) validates the proof through a gating sequence (110) and, upon clearance, an HSM (111) enables access to encrypted vector-store shards (112) for LLM inference (113). Residual quota is optically determined, while consumption is recorded in an audit ledger (114).
